The CFA is delighted to announce that Daniel Mee of Hillside Contracts Ltd has won the Flooring Apprentice of the Year competition 2025.
Following stiff competition throughout this year’s competition, Daniel was one of three finalists who were invited to attend the CFA prize-giving and Live Winner Reveal at the InstallerSHOW on Tuesday 24th June.
After being announced as the winner, Daniel said: “This is an amazing honour and a testimony to the effort, dedication, and enthusiasm I have put into my apprenticeship. Being recognised in this way, along with other promising apprentices, is exciting and it motivates me to keep developing my skills in the flooring trade. It means the world to me to receive this award because it acknowledges the hard work I have done and is also a strong motivator for me to continue improving on the skills I have learnt. I hope it will encourage those who are just beginning their careers in flooring, as I did just a few years ago.”
As well as the prestige of being declared Flooring Apprentice of the Year and receiving a £1,000 cash prize, Daniel also wins a raft of very impressive prizes. These include a Specialist Flooring Tool Kit of tools, materials, kneepads, clothing and vouchers worth over £10,000!
He also wins an invitation to attend the CFJ Flooring Industry Awards and celebration lunch (with his tutor and employer) at the prestigious Dallas Burston Polo Club, Warwickshire, in September 2025, as well as two pages of publicity in Contract Flooring Journal.
The other finalists in this year’s competition were Greg Scott of Veitchi Flooring Ltd and Sam Shetliffe of Capital Flooring and Blinds. The CFA would like to take the opportunity to congratulate them on their achievement in reaching the final three of the flooring industry’s most prestigious national award for apprentices.
The Flooring Apprentice of the Year Competition is made possible thanks to the generous support of its sponsors, and the CFA is very grateful for their continuing support and their donation of the large number of prizes. These companies are demonstrating in a very practical way their support for training and apprenticeships.
Next year’s competition will get underway in January 2026. If you are an employer with an apprentice who deserves recognition, please consider nominating them.
