CE Marking Extends for Construction Products in Great Britain

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has published the Construction Products (Amendment) Regulations 2025, introducing minor technical changes to maintain continuity in the regulation of construction products across Great Britain.

The amendments ensure that CE-marked construction products, including flooring materials, can continue to be placed on the Great Britain market. This update follows the introduction of the European Union’s new Construction Products Regulation, which came into force in January 2025.

The UKCA mark remains a recognised regulatory marking, offering manufacturers and suppliers an alternative to the CE mark for products sold in Great Britain.

The new regulations will come into force on 8th January. View the full Construction Products (Amendment) Regulations 2025 online for more information.

On the same day, it was announced that the functions of the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) would move out of the Health and Safety Executive, into an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by MHCLG.

Minister for Building Safety, Fire and Democracy Samantha Dixon says: ‘This change will position the BSR for the coming years. It will strengthen lines of accountability and give a dedicated focus to BSR operations, and is an important first step towards establishing a single construction regulator, the lead recommendation of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report.’
