A brand-new healthcare facility located within The Belfry Shopping Centre has been successfully completed with the support of UltraFloor’s high-performance subfloor preparation system, delivering exceptional standards across a complex site.
The 650sqm project was carried out by Specialist Flooring Group, members of the Contract Flooring Association (CFA), and involved the installation of a variety of specialist floor finishes across consultation rooms, wet areas, corridors, and highly technical spaces including CT scanner and data rooms.
Delivering precision in a demanding environment
The project combined both new and existing subfloors, following an extension to the facility. One of the key challenges was achieving an exceptionally tight tolerance of +/- 1mm over a 1m area beneath the CT scanners – critical for the performance of sensitive medical equipment.
To meet this requirement, the flooring team utilised laser-guided installation techniques alongside a high-performance subfloor build-up, ensuring the specified tolerance was achieved with precision.
UltraFloor ensures reliable subfloor preparation
UltraFloor products played a vital role in preparing the subfloors for the final floor coverings. The system included:
Formulated to promote adhesion to all UltraFloor smoothing underlayments, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer reduces pinholing, minimising the risk of costly failures. With a coverage rate of 200sqm at a 3:1 dilution, it is a must-have product for all flooring installation projects.

Level IT Two continues to demonstrate its value as a modern smoothing underlayment, offering a trusted solution that combines consistent performance with ease of application. Developed with real-world installations in mind, this mid-strength, two-component leveller features a high-flow formulation that allows for quick, efficient coverage while maintaining exceptional surface quality.
Level IT Two stands out for its excellent flow and workability, spreading effortlessly across a variety of subfloors including concrete, sand and cement screeds and underfloor heating systems. Suitable for depths of 2–12mm and formulated to tolerate moisture, it performs reliably across a wide range of applications. Its low-odour, protein-free composition also makes it ideal for sensitive environments such as healthcare and education settings, ensuring minimal disruption and a safer working environment.
Stick IT 640 is a low-emission, odour-neutral, water-based acrylic polymer dispersion adhesive suitable for vinyl, polyolefin and rubber floorcoverings. It provides a long open time and delivers a dependable final bond.
With multiple trades operating simultaneously on-site – including electricians installing overhead utilities – careful planning and coordination were essential. The team also committed to out-of-hours working to maintain progress and meet project deadlines.
Installation was completed in phases, beginning with consultation rooms and wet areas, followed by specialist spaces such as x-ray and data rooms, and finishing with corridors, reception, and waiting areas.
The project incorporated a range of floor finishes, including resin and vinyl, designed to meet the varied demands of a healthcare environment. Anti-static flooring was installed in data and CT rooms to support sensitive equipment, while durable and hygienic finishes were used throughout patient-facing areas.
Riley Goatham, Project Co-ordinator at Specialist Flooring Group, commented: ‘All materials used were suitable for the substrates and helped to achieve the desired finish prior to installation of the floorcoverings.’
This project highlights the importance of reliable subfloor preparation in achieving high-performance flooring installations – particularly in healthcare environments where precision, durability, and compliance are essential.
UltraFloor’s range of primers, levelling compounds, and adhesives continues to support contractors in delivering outstanding results, even under the most demanding conditions.
