After weeks of anticipation, the Contract Flooring Association (CFA) were delighted to welcome members and guests to its second England Race Day at Leicester Racecourse on Tuesday 14th July, on the same day it hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), confirming the newest positions of the CFA Council.
With glorious sunshine throughout the afternoon and the racecourse looking at its very best, the setting could not have been more perfect. The warm weather, combined with excellent racing on good to firm ground, created a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish, with plenty of exciting action out on the track. The day once again proved to be a wonderful opportunity to bring people together, with members and guests enjoying great hospitality, lively conversation, friendly competition and the chance to strengthen existing relationships while making new connections.
CFA Vice-President Louise Walters and Immediate Past President Alan McEwan were invited to present the prize to the winning owners of race 3 on the card (pictured right).
The CFA wishes a sincere thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the day so enjoyable, including so many familiar faces alongside new guests.

In a landmark moment for the Association, Louise Walters of Designer Contracts (pictured top left) becomes the CFA’s first female Vice-President, a milestone that reinforces the Association’s growing focus on women in flooring. Carl Harper of Westcotes Flooring Co Ltd was elected Treasurer.
The CFA Council numbers 15 members, deliberately structured to reflect the make-up of the industry: eight contractors, five manufacturers, one distributor and one consultant, spanning businesses of every size. New and returning Council members include Kenny Smith of MacGregor Flooring, alongside re-elected representatives from across the sector.
CEO Richard Catt reported a strong year for the Association, citing successful lobbying that helped protect the specification of textile and timber flooring in new-build homes, continued progress on competence and site conditions, growth in apprenticeship numbers through FITA, and a financial position ahead of budget.
CFA can provide support for members in bridging the skills and labour shortage, apprenticeships, wider training, technical support, late payment, dispute resolution and the emerging situation where flooring contractors will no longer have to suffer withheld retention. Members hear first!
