Still the most comprehensive and up to date resource for contract flooring companies looking to accelerate their sustainability journey, the Contract Flooring Association (CFA) is proud to release its 2026–2027 Guide to Sustainability, the industry’s leading digital publication dedicated to advancing sustainability across the contract flooring sector.
Building on the foundations laid in previous editions, this year’s guide focuses on one defining challenge: scaling sustainability. The conversation is no longer centred on ideas, pilots and early innovation. Across the industry, manufacturers, contractors, distributors and recyclers are working to make sustainable practices practical, measurable and commercially viable, embedding them into everyday business and demonstrating that environmental responsibility is increasingly central to long term success.
The 2026–2027 edition arrives at an important stage in the industry’s transition towards a circular economy. Following the success of the CISUFLO project, the focus has shifted from developing solutions to implementing them at scale. The CFA continues to play a leading role in supporting this transition by sharing knowledge, promoting best practice and helping members prepare for a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
A major development this year is the strengthened partnership between the CFA and the UK Flooring Sustainability Alliance (UKSFA). Formerly Carpet Recycling UK, the organisation is playing an increasingly important role in driving circularity throughout the flooring supply chain. Through closer collaboration, member engagement and strategic leadership, the CFA and UKSFA are working together to deliver practical solutions that benefit the whole industry.
This year’s Guide explores these developments through expert opinion, practical case studies and contributions from across the supply chain. It also includes articles from UKSFA, highlighting progress on take-back schemes, stewardship models, product traceability and initiatives that are helping make circular flooring a commercial reality.
Key areas covered this year include:
As government policy and industry expectations continue to evolve, businesses that embrace sustainable practices today will be best placed to succeed tomorrow. The 2026–2027 Guide demonstrates how leading organisations are turning ambition into action while ensuring environmental responsibility delivers commercial value. It also highlights the CFA’s role in helping members understand and prepare for legislative change well before it comes into effect.
