Tricas Flooring Completes 4,500sqm Flooring Refurbishment at Numa Hotel Brighton

Tricas Flooring has successfully completed a comprehensive flooring replacement project at Numa Brighton Pavillion, a modern aparthotel-style hospitality property located in the heart of Brighton and Hove.

The 4,500sqm project involved the refurbishment of flooring across 86 guest bedrooms and associated corridors, delivering a durable, high-quality finish aligned with the operational demands and aesthetic standards of a contemporary hotel environment.

Within all guest bedrooms, LVT flooring was installed to provide a hard-wearing, low-maintenance and visually consistent solution. New carpet flooring was fitted throughout the corridors to improve comfort underfoot and elevate the overall guest experience.

The works were carried out while the hotel was closed to guests, allowing Tricas Flooring unrestricted access to bedrooms and corridors. This created a safe, controlled working environment and enabled efficient installation with minimal disruption.

All flooring was installed over a concrete substrate. Subfloor preparation was a critical phase, with existing flooring removed and subfloors mechanically ground to create a clean base. UltraFloor Prime IT Multi-surface Primer was applied, followed by Level IT Two smoothing underlayment, which was trowel-applied at depths between 3mm and 6mm to achieve a smooth, even surface suitable for both luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) and carpet installation.

There are many reasons why Level IT Two has become UltraFloor’s most popular floor leveller. Its exceptional flow characteristics make it a very easy material to apply to a variety of subfloors in both commercial and domestic flooring projects. Its low odour formulation means this fantastic all-rounder leveller is equally suited to confined areas, proving particularly popular in the education, health and hospitality sectors.

With a set time of 2.5 hours, Level IT Two can receive bonded floor coverings after just 8 hours, making it an ideal choice for projects with a tight deadline. What’s more, because Level IT Two is available as a two-component system, it takes the guesswork out of mixing, reducing site errors and aiming to guarantee a perfect application every time.

For the bedrooms, Forbo Allure LVT planks were carefully set out to confirm alignment before installation. UltraFloor Stick IT 543 flooring adhesive was used to secure the planks, which were rolled to ensure full contact and eliminate air pockets, with precise trimming around floors and skirting to deliver a high-quality finish.

Suitable for use in high-temperature installations and areas of direct sunlight, UltraFloor Stick IT 543 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive ideally suited for bonding dimensionally stable LVT, PVC sheets, planks and tiles in interior environments.

The project followed a structured programme that included site preparation, subfloor preparation, bedroom and corridor flooring installation, quality assurance, and final handover. All areas were thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and signed off, with maintenance guidance provided for both LVT and carpet surfaces.

The project was completed over a 16-week period from April to June 2025 and was delivered on time.

Commenting on the project, Alex Page, Director at Tricas Flooring, said: ‘UltraFloor products were reliable, easy to install, and low odour, making them ideal for a hotel environment. The adhesive provided a strong, long-lasting bond for the LVT, while the levelling compound ensured perfectly flat subfloors. Overall, they helped deliver a high-quality finish on time and with minimal disruption.’

The completed refurbishment provides Numa Brighton Pavillion with durable, modern flooring solutions designed to support long-term performance with enhancing comfort and guest experience.
