CFA’s A Day at the Races Combines With AGM

CFA CEO Richard Catt says: “The CFA AGM is always an important date in our calendar, and this year, we’re making it even more special. On Thursday 17th July 2025, members are invited to Leicester Racecourse for a day that blends business with pleasure, offering valuable industry insights alongside a fantastic social event.

“The AGM kicks off at 10:30 AM, opening with a presentation from Jo Fautley, Deputy Chief Executive of Build UK. Jo will be sharing updates on Build UK’s work across the construction sector, covering some of the biggest issues affecting our industry. Payment practices, retention, and the latest changes to competency requirements under the 2022 Building Safety Act will all be discussed. Build UK plays a vital role in bringing main contractors and specialist contractors together, ensuring that Government policy reflects the needs of the whole industry.

“The Build UK Common Assessment Standard (CAS) has become an established and overarching pre-qualification (PQ) scheme. Why pay and manage several PQ schemes when the CAS combines all that is needed under a common question set delivered and accepted by leading providers, main contractors and clients. You may even be eligible to claim the CAS accreditation through an existing scheme. With new competency requirements coming into play, CAS and PQ schemes will be more important than ever. The AGM is a great opportunity to hear how Build UK is supporting and influencing industry challenges and ask questions.

“Beyond the industry updates, the AGM also provides a chance to hear the latest from CFA, including an activity update, financial report, and the election of the Council. But what really sets this year’s event apart is what comes after the business is done. For the first time, we’re hosting a southern Day at the Races, following the huge success of our Scottish Race Day at Hamilton Racecourse. Leicester Racecourse is a fantastic venue with easy access, making it an ideal location for this new event. Places are limited, and with interest already high, we strongly recommend booking as soon as possible.

“The race day is a chance to bring members together in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Whether it’s entertaining clients, rewarding staff, or simply catching up with industry colleagues, it’s an event that appeals to everyone. Horse racing has a unique atmosphere, offering a great mix of excitement, networking, and fun. It’s a smart-casual occasion where you can enjoy a delicious lunch, a few drinks, and perhaps even a flutter, all while making valuable business connections.

“This event is open to all CFA members, who can book individual tickets or reserve a table, with the option to invite non-member guests. The combination of an insightful AGM, a fantastic meal, and an afternoon at the races makes this a day not to be missed. With everything lined up for an engaging and enjoyable experience, we hope to see as many members as possible at Leicester Racecourse on 17th July 2025. Don’t miss out, secure your place today!
