Award-winning manufacturer, UltraFloor, was delighted to partner with Tricas Flooring to tackle an extensive 1500sqm flooring project at a care home facility in Northampton.
The Background
In Autumn 2023, the skilled team at Tricas Flooring was thrilled to take on an exciting new project – a comprehensive 1500sqm flooring refurbishment at a Northampton-based care home. From initial consultation to the final installation, Tricas Flooring worked closely with the care home management to ensure a seamless, efficient process that minimised disruption to residents and staff alike.
The Challenge
The 1500sqm project was divided across three distinct levels. The ground floor required products suitable for a concrete substrate, while the first and second floors utilised a timber wood frame construction.
In addition, the final flooring choice across all three floors was sheet vinyl, which required an exceptionally smooth subfloor to ensure a seamless, bump-free finish.
The Solution
Tricas Flooring’s long-standing partnership with UltraFloor gave them confidence that UltraFloor could supply the ideal subfloor preparation materials for this refurbishment project. To begin, the entire 1500sqm area was primed with UltraFloor Prime IT Multi-surface Primer.
Formulated to promote adhesion to all UltraFloor smoothing underlayments, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer reduces pinholing, minimising the risk of costly failures. With a coverage rate of 200sqm at a 3:1 dilution, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer is a ‘must-have’ product for all flooring installation projects, the manufacturer says.
To achieve the best results possible, three of UltraFloor’s award-winning smoothing compounds were used throughout the site. The products used were Level IT Renovate, Level IT Two and Level IT Super Flex 30.
Developed for the renovation of existing floors, Level IT Renovate is fibre reinforced for added strength and to minimise the risk of hairline cracks. Suitable for deep applications from 3–40mm, Level IT Renovate is multi-purpose for extensive use and boasts excellent flow properties, making this flexible and versatile floor leveller ideal for a wide range of flooring substrates.
There are many reasons why Level IT Two has become UltraFloor’s most popular floor leveller. Its exceptional flow characteristics make it a very easy material to apply to a variety of subfloors in both commercial and domestic flooring projects.
Its low odour formulation means this fantastic all-rounder leveller is equally suited to confined areas, proving particularly popular in the education, health and hospitality sectors.
With a set time of 2.5 hours, Level IT Two can receive bonded floor coverings after just 8 hours, making it an ideal choice for projects with a tight deadline. What’s more, because Level IT Two is available as a two-component system, it takes the guesswork out of mixing, reducing site errors and guaranteeing a perfect application every time.
To complete the installation, Level IT Super Flex 30 was trowel applied at a 3mm depth. Level IT Super Flex 30 has a high polymer formulation for excellent flexible properties, making this the leveller of choice for steel mezzanine decks and flooring grade plywood.
