Part of the Instarmac Group, UltraFloor provides high-performance solutions for contractors across commercial, industrial and domestic projects. The Sustainability Champion Award celebrates UltraFloor’s approach to reducing environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.
Vicki Stiles, UltraFloor brand manager, commented: “Guided by our values – Work Hard, Have Fun, Make a Difference – we are proud to build a business that inspires our people, delivers real benefits to our customers and leads the way in responsible manufacturing. This award is a fantastic recognition of the dedication and passion shown by our entire team.”
Responsible manufacturing is a top priority across the business. Each year, Instarmac incorporates over 6,000 tonnes of recycled material into its products – the equivalent weight of 487 London buses. When developing new products, incorporating recycled content is a key priority, with some formulations containing up to 50% recycled material. Popular smoothing underlayments, Level IT Hydra Bond and Level IT Multi Pro, both include 20% recycled material in their formulations.
UltraFloor’s commitment extends beyond product development. All single-use packaging now contains up to 100% recycled material, and the business offers a free pallet collection scheme for customers. Since October 2021, more than 80,000 pallets have been collected for reuse or recycling.
The company’s distinctive fleet of unmissable orange delivery trucks has also been transformed, with 17 gas-powered vehicles now in operation. Each truck reduces CO₂ emissions by approximately 100 tonnes per year, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of nationwide deliveries.
In 2021, UltraFloor strengthened its environmental credentials with the installation of a 3,771sqm solar farm at its Tamworth site. While initial forecasts predicted a 12–17% reduction in grid energy use, the actual reduction reached an impressive 26%, generating more than 600,000 kWh of solar power.
Environmental performance is continually monitored and improved through UltraFloor’s ISO 14001 environmental management system, ensuring opportunities for improvement are identified across all areas of the business. This commitment is transparently communicated through the company’s regular Environmental and Social Responsibility Reposts, reinforcing UltraFloor’s focus on making a positive, measurable difference.
This latest accolade follows further industry recognition, including UltraFloor being voted Manufacturer of the Year 2024 via a public vote, cementing its reputation as a leader of both product innovation and sustainable manufacturing.
