Uplift, Prepare, DPM Lay & Traffic In A Day! Introducing UZIN Plurafilm Hydro

Introducing UZIN Plurafilm Hydro, an innovative double-sided adhesive tape and damp proof membrane (DPM) that effectively eliminates moisture levels of up to 99.9% relative humidity (RH) and significantly reduces installation time from days to just hours. UZIN Plurafilm Hydro transforms how flooring professionals tackle damp subfloors. This unique double-sided tape and moisture barrier allows for the installation of carpets, luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), vinyl, or rubber flooring directly over damp cementitious substrates and moisture-tolerant smoothing compounds. This eliminates the need for extended closures, costly downtime, and prolonged drying periods.

Time and cost challenges of traditional systems

Conventional epoxy DPMs and wet adhesive systems typically require three to five days of preparation and drying time before the floor can be reused. In sectors such as retail, hospitality, or refurbishment, each closed day represents lost revenue, disrupted operations, and increased labour costs. Lengthier schedules also increase the risk of coordination issues, supplier delays, and client dissatisfaction, ultimately leading to higher project costs.

The solution: fast, reliable, and cost-effective

UZIN Plurafilm Hydro is a double-sided self-adhesive tape that also acts as a DPM up to 99.9% RH. It protects the floor covering from rising or residual moisture, eliminating the necessity for lengthy moisture mitigation systems. Once installed, the new floor covering is immediately ready for use, enabling contractors to meet tight deadlines and minimise disruption for clients.

How it works

The installation process is straightforward and designed to expedite the overall schedule. If the subfloor is even and free of residues or contaminants, you can apply the tape directly to the subfloor and then proceed to install the floor covering. If the subfloor is dusty, first prime it with UZIN PE 360 PLUS where necessary. Since Plurafilm Hydro is ready for foot traffic immediately, there is no need to wait the usual 24–48 hours for the adhesive to cure, allowing businesses to resume operations much faster. For uneven screeds, prime the subfloor with UZIN PE 360 PLUS before pre-smoothing it with a moisture-tolerant smoothing compound, such as UZIN NC 161. The following day, lay UZIN Plurafilm Hydro and fit the floor covering.

Time comparison

On an even subfloor, the Plurafilm system can reduce closure time to just one day, while a traditional damp proof membrane (DPM) system typically requires three to four days. For uneven subfloors, the Plurafilm workflow usually takes two days compared to four to five days with conventional epoxy DPM, including smoothing and drying cycles. These shortened timelines are especially valuable in environments where downtime directly impacts revenue and operations, such as the retail and hospitality sectors.

Key benefits

UZIN Plurafilm Hydro enables fast installation, allowing floors to be installed and used within 1–2 days, depending on the substrate. This significantly reduces site closures and project timelines. The time savings can lead to substantial cost savings through lower labour costs and reduced lost revenue. The tape effectively resists alkaline moisture up to 99.9% relative humidity (RH), providing robust protection against residual and rising moisture. It is free of hazardous substances, making it a safer option for both installers and occupants. The tape is suitable for installing carpets, sheet vinyl, LVT, and rubber. For vinyl installations, the flooring can be grooved and welded immediately, thereby increasing on-site efficiency.

UZIN Plurafilm Hydro provides a fast, safe, and moisture-resistant installation solution that shortens project timelines, reduces costs, and ensures durable, high-quality floor performance for both installers and occupants.
